Dr. Tore Markeset started working at the University of Stavanger since 1999 - first as a research fellow earning a doctoral degree in 2003, thereafter as associate professor, and from 2009 as full professor in mechanical engineering, specializing in operations and maintenance engineering and management. He also has served in an 20% adjunct position at The Arctic University of Norway, UiT, Tromsø, since 2007.
Since October 2014 he has been serving as a the Head of the Department of Safety, Economics and Planning (earlier the Dept of Industrial economics, Risk management and Planning until end of 2017). He received a BSc degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Stavanger in 1985, and further earned a BSc and MSc degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Minnesota, USA, in 1989 and 1991 respectively. After working in the industry for a number of years within process, mechanical and reservoir engineering, he attained a PhD degree in offshore technology – operations and maintenance from the University of Stavanger in 2003. His research interests are industrial services and industrial asset management.
