R. M. Chandima Ratnayake

Dr. R.M. Chandima Ratnayake is a Professor (100%) in the Department of Mechanical & Structural Engineering and Materials Science (IKM), University of Stavanger (UiS) – Norway, where he has been since 2006. He has a B.Sc. in Production Engineering, M.Sc. in Manufacturing Engineering and PhD in Offshore Engineering (Asset Integrity Management). Professor Ratnayake is also a ‘Senior Integrity Management - Technical Advisor’, Wood Group Integrity Management, Wood Group Kenny Norway AS. He has also served as a ‘Maintenance Engineering Specialist’ (20%) in Apply Sørco AS (2012.11- 2014.02), Norway and as a ‘Senior Engineer’ in AkerSolutions Offshore Partner (2009-2011), Stavanger, Norway. He also served in the capacities of Associate Professor, visiting Associate Professor and Assistant Professor from August 2007 to July 2010 at the University of Stavanger, Norway`, and as a lecturer at a number of universities and educational institutions in Sri Lanka. Presently he lectures Manufacturing & Production Engineering and Product Development for B.Sc. students, Computer Aided Engineering (i.e. Computer Aided Manufacturing) for M.Sc. students. He also offers two PhD courses (Industrial asset integrity assessment & control and Multi-criteria Analysis). Moreover, he conducts courses for practicing engineers in Oil & Gas industry and manufacturing sector in national and international level. He has been invited to numerous international level conferences as a speaker within the contexts of Asset integrity control and management, Health, Safety & Environmental issues, Sustainability, Maintenance, Criticality Analysis, Risk-based inspection and Reliability centered maintenance, Offshore Data Management, Human factors, etc. Currently, he participates and manages several Erasmus+ and Nordplus projects focusing on implementation on lean concepts and effective implementation of enterprise resource planning systems’ in the Norwegian industry. Professor Ratnayake supervises B.Sc., M.Sc., and PhD projects. He has made more than 100 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, and book chapters. He is an Editor of the Central European Journal of Engineering (Industrial Engineering/Offshore Engineering) & SCIENCEDOMAIN international and a member of editorial board of International Journal of Computational Systems Engineering. He has also been served as an ad hoc reviewer and a member of the technical committee for several international conferences and journals.
