Dimitrios G. Pavlou

Dr.ing., professor og gruppeleder Mechanical Engineering Group Institutt for konstruksjonsteknikk og materialteknikk, Universitetet i Stavanger

Dimitrios G. Pavlou is Professor of Mechanical Systems in the Department of Mechanical and Structural Engineering and Materials Science at University of Stavanger, and research group leader of the Mechanical Engineering Group. He earned his BSc and MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering and PhD degree in Fracture Mechanics from the University of Patras. He has extensive industrial experience in engineering design and more than 15 years of experience in teaching Computational Mechanics of Solids (FEM, BEM), Fracture Mechanics, Steel Structures and Structural Analysis in European universities. He is author of numerous research articles in referee journals and international conferences, author of monographs and books and guest editor of books and special issues covering Finite Elements, Pipeline Engineering, Fracture Mechanics, Steel Structures, Damage Mechanics and Composite Materials. Because of his international recognition, he is a referee in 14 international journals and many conferences. His research interests are (a) Analytical and Numerical methods in Fracture Mechanics with special emphasis on solution of Boundary Integral Equations (BIE) using Green’s functions and BEM, (b) Damage Mechanics with special emphasis on Fatigue and Creep Damage Accumulation under variable loading as well as life-time prediction of structural parts in service conditions,(c) Analysis of elastostatic problems using Integral Transforms with special emphasis οn Hankel Transforms, and (d) Design of pipelines made by Composite Materials.
