Biotechnology in Rogaland:
What can we do and what should we do?

Professor Simon Geir Møller, UiS 

The debate surrounding biotechnology and gene modification is heating up. In Asia, the US and
partly in Europe, modern biotechnology has become everyday language whilst in Norway biotechnology
is often viewed as being a somewhat negative branch of the life sciences. This seminar will highlight
various aspects of modern biotechnology, how mankind can benefit and the potential dangers of the
technology. Furthermore, the future of biotechnology in Rogaland will be discussed in relation to the
innovation potential
within the region.
